Yep, they're all actually floating in mid-air - I used my worldball for the backdrop/lighting, and the groundplane as a 'Shadowcatcher Only'. You spotted one of the main problems with that!
The turban-style spiked helmet is from the 'Great Rulers - Saladin' outfit for the G2 Males at Smith Micro.
