Art is often meant to evince an emotion. The emotion we're looking for here is fear. Halloween is around the corner, and now is your chance to scare our socks off with ghouls, zombies, monsters, haunted houses, mass murders, or whatever other freakish character or scene you can create.
By All Hallows Eve (October 31, 2007 at the stroke of midnight PST), entrants are required to enter a finished and original (made specifically for this challenge) 3d/2d computer graphic art to our gallery, with the 'Halloween Challenge' category selected. On or before Monday, November 5, 2007, we will select the first, second and third place winners, as well as a few who deserve honorable mention.
(For clarification: We are looking for 3d, 2d or a combination of both types of computer graphic art in your work. Essentially your entry just must be Computer Graphic art. See current challenge submittals.)

Next Limit Technologies creates cross-platform particle simulation and light simulation software for fluid and rigid body modeling, and accurate visual rendering. The company's projects are Maxwell Render (a light simulator), XFlow (a fluid simulator for engineers and scientists), and RealFlow (a physics simulator for the 3D industry), which was used in the films: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Robots. Maxwell Render is a physically correct, unbiased rendering engine. By calculating complex mathematics, Maxwell Render is capable of simulating light exactly as in the real world. Unbiased means Maxwell Render does not use tricks to imitate real world behavior like other renderers . everything is reproduced as it is through governing physical equations. Maxwell Render can fully capture all light interactions between all elements in a scene no matter how complex they are. All lighting calculations are performed using spectral information and high dynamic range data. Maxwell Render has been acclaimed as a landmark in next-generation rendering technology, having produced the best photorealistic images to date. Only 1 entry per person! The work must be original, yours, and made specifically for this ShareCG competition. If we find it anywhere else or by anyone else, we will automatically disqualify you.
Crediting
Entries may be inspired by and/or include a range of material from third parties. This is permissible as long as the finished entry is substantially a new work by the entrant(s). The appropriate use of this material in no way diminishes your finished work or the chances of winning. However, failure to correctly credit all inspirations, third party works, team members etc will result in automatic disqualification.
Copyright
You must credit any work you use as an inspiration for your entry. This does not diminish your work or the chances of winning in any way. Failure to acknowledge inspirational works will trigger an automatic disqualification.
Your work will be all yours - you hold the Copyright. However, if it was based on any inspirational works that are not yours then you must credit it as a derivative work. You will be free to show your finished work anywhere you want as long as you include in the credit the original work and author. You cannot make any claim or imply in any way that you created the work for the original artist and must not allow your work to appear in any form under the original artists imprimatur.
Disqualification
ShareCG staff may disqualify you for any reason, including a suspected abuse of the rating system, a suspected copyright breach, inappropriate material, or for any other reason.
Winning and Claiming Prizes
We will announce the winning artworks and users publicly on our website on or before Monday, November 5, 2007, and we will contact the winners by e-mail. Make sure that the e-mail account you supply while registering is correct, since this is the ONLY way we will attempt to contact you. If you fail to provide a proper mailing address within three (3) days after we notify you of winning, we will disqualify you and elect a new winner.
