It’s Finally Here! NewSkin Version 1.4 has been released and is ready to download for free. Now you can change the textures files in your Poser files, correct or replace texture file references, and then package those files to share, with one simple utility.
Newskin Version 1.4 is a small simple utility to change textures in Poser files. Although NewSkin was created for Pose files, it also works with other Poser file types. (*.pp2, *.pz2, *.pz3, *.cr2, *.hr2, *.mt5, *.mc6)
If you have ever downloaded texture files, without MAT Pose files, Newskin can simplify the process of using your new textures. You don't even need to know if the tongue, lacrimal, or nostrils are found in the head or body file. With a little practice, you can create a MAT Pose file in under 30 seconds. Transfer Textures from Victoria 1 & 2 to Mil Girls or from Victoria 3 to Aiko in a fraction of a minute.
Since Newskin works on most Poser files that use textures, you can change the skins of characters and materials on clothes, hair, and props in a Poser scene, without even opening Poser. Combined with the Save and Load features for conversion data, you can test your new textures in several different scenes, with little effort.
This is the Full Install of NewSkin 1.4. If you are already using Version 1.3, you can download the Upgrade Install of NewSkin version 1.4, which is much smaller than the Full Install.

NewSkin converts file addresses to ":Runtime:" format when possible, but uses "C:\" paths to find the files. For Macs running Wine, I could make a version that uses "C:/" or "C/" paths to find files. I don't have a Mac, so I don't know the Mac file path format. I'm not even sure if the DLLS and OCXs will run under Wine. (Or is Wine for Linux?)

NewSkin edits Poser files, but you do not need Poser to use Poser files. Daz Studio can import and use Poser files. NewSkin is just a Visual Basic program that runs under Windows, and does not require Poser or Daz Studio.

Do you need to own Poser or just having daz be okay?

Looks like an awesome program, thank you!!!...
If it's any help,... when I write pz2 matts for poser the address line for textures must be readable for MAC, so instead of the \ the : needs to used instead. ( line eg; textureMap ":Runtime:textures:anybodies:sthV4:sthV4BlkL.jpg" )

The zip file contains the documentation, installation program, and installation files.
NewSkin comes with a 7-page manual, in MS Word format. If you are unable to open Word documents, I can convert it to another format. The documentation includes a list of all features, and a few quick How-Tos.

Newskin tries to convert file references to computer indipendent format (":Runtime:..."), but sometimes has to use the standard method. This means back slashes. I am looking into how to make it more Mac friendly.

Hello Goldenthrush.
I don't have access to a Mac, so I don't even know what changes would be required to run on a Mac. If the Mac can run Windows programs, then I might be able to make a special Mac version, but I would need Mac beta testers. Does the Mac use backslashes or forward slashes?

Does it work for Macs, too? :D

I just uploaded the program again. I fixed the File Association interface. The File Association was working, but the text on the screen was confusing.
