USS Amphitrite, WW1 Coastal Defense Monitor

Poser

« Prev Next »

One of the more unique parts of pre-war history was the ressurection of the Civil War Monitor. Low to the water, and slow, but armed with guns taken from old Battleships, these "New Navy Monitors" looked almost like miniature versions of the newer battlewagons in the fleet! Here i have reproduced a Monitor of the Amphitrite Class as she appeared during WW1, she is fully poseable and ready for service! (see included readme for details!)

This is fantastic. You have some serious talent. I happen to work in the import and export business with Ships in Houston. I go aboard some really cool ships. If you ever want some pictures to work from. Let me know. Here is a link that shows myself and just a few vessels. http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh47/Lakotafeather/The%20Artist/

I'm currently finishing a model of a lightboat.. an old ship converted for use as a floating lighthouse, and a model of the Virginia Class Pre-Dreadnought Battleship... both will as usual be high poly, high detail models... you'll also notice a slightly improved look to my textures from here out... i added a little detail to make them a little more realistic

Yw guys... sorry about the poly count... i've put alot of extra details into the ships... and managed to cut the poly counts by several meg with the new masts and turrets.. unfortunately the extra details such as hatches and such have left the counts high and i have yet to find a way to cut the count without ruining the model...

Another excellent (albeit extremely high-poly) model. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Wickes and Clemson flush-deck four-pipe destroyers. I've been working on one of my own for months, but like you, am having a hell of a time keeping the polygon count to manageable level... ;)
