This tutorial for Daz Studio demonstrates the Point Light as an omni-directional light.  Just like the light bulb, it just shines everywhere.  It is generally to give an effect for something that gives off this type of lighting such as a match, lighter, light bulb or in the case of this tutorial, a crystal ball.  For non-commercial personal use only.
