Suzuki SX4 Modeling: Part 3 Blueprint Setup

Suzuki SX4 Tutorial: Part (III) - Blueprints Setup

1. First you will need to download the Blueprints & Photo Refernce pack I provided. It have the complete set of blueprints and some hi res photo references of the SX4.

2. Create a plane in the Top view.

3. Name the plane "Top View". Make sure you label all the views correct as we progress. Change the parameters of the plane to the following: Lenght: 874 & Width: 1786. Set its X,Y,Z coordinates to 0, to center the plane.

4. Import the blueprints into the max Material Editor. Place the images in the diffuse slots of each matieral. Set the "Self-Illumination" to "100". All 4 blueprint materials should have the same settings. Setting the "Self-Illumination" to 100 will eliminate shadows from the blueprints.

Make sure you label each material correctly in the material editor.

5. Create another plane but this time in the Front View. Change the parameters of the plane to the following: Lenght: 810 & Width: 1786. Set its X,Y,Z coordinates to: X: 3.0, Y: 439.097, Z: 405.0.

6. Now drag/apply the Top view blueprint to the Top view plane. Apply the Side view blueprint to Side view plane, located in the Front view.

7. Finally lets create the Front and Rear View. Create another plane in the Left view. Change the parameters of the plane to the following: Lenght: 810 & Width: 847. Set its X,Y,Z coordinates to: X: 892, Y: 0.0, Z: 405.0.

For the Rear view blueprint follow the same steps above and use these settings: X,Y,Z coordinates to: X: -891.423, Y: 0.0, Z: 405.0.

8. Next we will make the blueprints less obtrusive. First, hide the Rear view plane. Select all of the other planes and right click and go to Object properties. Here you'll need to Freeze the objects, and uncheck "Show Frozen as Grey". This will keep Max from showing frozen object as grey, which will prevent you from see the blueprint texture.

Now your bluepritns will not get in your way
