the geometry is appealing, but your unwrapping method is inefficient, and your texture detail is lacking because of it. you should add an uvm unwrap modifier and unwrap your geometry yourself, that way you can add more details to your texture. also, some of the detail like your rivets could be added my normal map, there is no need to add all those extra tris.
