Thanks Smurfswacker. Yes your approach is traditional and best. Funnily enough I'm having to make some cuts on scenes atm and like you say having the storyboard in front of you makes those tough decisions easier.

The wisdom in this video can help countless indy 3D animators. Wisdom isn't always photogenic but absorbing this stuff will help people get things done, which is what it's all about, right?

I work on short animatics that don't require a slick finish. My work flow is similar to yours except that I start by laying the whole thing out in storyboard sketches. I scan these and more …
