Trimble Acquires The Omega Group to Expand its Public Safety Solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 14, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that it has acquired the assets of privately-held The Omega Group, headquartered in San Diego, California. The Omega Group is an industry-leading provider of cloud-based and on-premise operational performance support software that integrates mapping, analytics, intelligence and mobile technologies, allowing public safety agencies to optimize patrol strategies and daily field work. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Omega solutions enable agencies to design and execute precise public safety missions, resulting in more accurate resource allocation decisions and reducing operational costs while improving public safety outcomes to the communities they serve.

The Omega Group provides a rich portfolio of desktop, dashboard, and mobile solutions for law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical service, emergency management and criminal justice agencies. The company also provides solutions for private sector security organizations.

The acquisition adds enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS), big data/analytics and mobility-driven capabilities to Trimble's portfolio of traffic, crash reporting and crash/crime scene reconstruction solutions.

"The adoption of information technology continues to grow in public safety as agencies are concerned with preempting criminal activity, allocating and deploying resources, reducing response times, and most importantly, increasing safety for their communities," said Bill Martin, general manager of Trimble's Public Safety division. "By expanding our public safety portfolio to include The Omega Group's data intelligence and analysis solutions, we are offering a set of comprehensive tools to transform the way law enforcement, fire and EMS work with data-driven approaches to enhance safety in their communities."

"Public Safety agencies are under immense pressure to deliver the same level of service to their communities with significantly reduced budgets," said Milan Mueller, president of The Omega Group. "Our job is to provide public safety practitioners at all levels of the organization with the information they need to make the right decisions and take the right actions to keep their communities safe and informed. This capability is especially important when faced with budget constraints. The addition of The Omega Group products to the existing Trimble Public Safety portfolio provides a comprehensive enterprise solution designed to provide decision makers data-driven insights in support of their decision making, resulting in effective and efficient use of limited resources."
