UNLTD Debuts First-Of-Its-Kind Virtual Reality TV Series Trailer at South by Southwest (SXSW)

“Trinity” is a science-fiction television series filmed in interactive volumetric style proprietary to UNLTD

MONTREAL — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 14, 2017UNLTD, a virtual reality production studio with pioneers in 3D camera and shooting technology, today at South by Southwest (SXSW) presented the teaser trailer (view trailer here) for the virtual reality series, “Trinity.” The series, which will consist of five fifteen-minute episodes, will be platform-agnostic to allow compatibility with all virtual reality headsets for viewing.

John Hamilton, UNLTD CEO and “Trinity” producer/writer, participated in a panel discussion put on by Planet Quebec at SXSW today discussing the unique challenges of filming for virtual reality. Hamilton focused on the creative and technical challenges, such as 360 scripting, high-end visual effects, utilizing interactive engines and developing proprietary VR camera rigs.

“To produce 'Trinity', UNLTD developed a proprietary camera in order to capture and create a truly interactive entertainment experience,” says Hamilton. “Using volumetric, 360 and live-action technologies, we are able to allow viewers to move around within an episode of 'Trinity' in a way that hasn’t been seen before in virtual reality.”

“Trinity” is an interactive, science-fiction VR movie experience that will be unlike anything created for VR. Based on a premise set in the future where humans have long been extinct, the last surviving androids fight a final war for freedom against an all powerful singularity, their God. The series is in production and the pilot will be released to select partners by fall of 2017. Director Patrick Boivin (“Dragon Baby,” “Little Ant-Man”) will direct production of “Trinity” with UNLTD executive team, pioneers in 3D camera and shooting technology with decades of combined production experience, Sébastien Gros and Robert Boulos.

“Working on a project like 'Trinity' is a unique directing experience from my previous projects due to the nuances involved in shooting for virtual reality,” says Patrick Boivin, Director of “Trinity.” “The trailer showcases the intimate and involved feeling created when entertainment meets virtual reality.”
