Primarily what made them last so long was the boards on the old Zenith sets were hand-wired. They had to be, initially, simply because the tubes got so hot, curcuit board substrate at that time would break down. Hand-wired boards lasted longer than printed boards, and combined with the precision-made tubes Zenith used in the fifties meant many Zenith sets were still in service all the way up more …

Thanks much for this model :-) Zenith's were real good if you were on a budget. Used ones were super cheap and they lasted for decades and decades. I was still using one with rabbit ears in the 80s. Thx again!
