irishlostboy's WIP thread Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

ok, this is such an empty section. noone seems to want to show off how great they are. or how sucky they are. i guess, like me, most of you use other forums for constructive crits. well, just to show willing, i will put up a thread on my WIPs etc.

now, remember, all my work is GAME art. its not for film, or poser, or any of that, so there are some rules which must be adhered to.

1. low poly. my work has to be as low poly as possible.

2. i regularly have to compramise on detail to keep with in asset budget.

3. high poly stuff is done just to render normal maps from, and are not an end to themselves, so if it cant be used to get normals from, i leave it out.

anyway, you get the picture. anything i put up here, will eventually make it to my asset page here; http://www.sharecg.com/pf/irishlostboy

this is the high poly forklift. the low poly model is done, and i will use this high poly forklift to extract normal data to the low-poly forklift. i am doing it as a request from someone on the OGRE3d forums (ogre is a realtime rendering engine used for games development) should be done in a few weeks.

this is a render of a WIP level i am doing for a college project. the lighting is just thrown in so i can see what i am doing. the robot is already released here, and the level will be released as soon as i am done. the textures will all be released shortly. they are ready for release, but at the moment sharecg is having problems with uploading large archives. they are working on it.

anyway, thats it for now. i will update this thread every now and then.

thats the same thing he said.  only I just noticed you make 3d max and I don't have it so I wouldn't be able to use it.

if you look more you will see i usually release .OBJ also, so you can actually use it.

also, if something is in .MAX format, and you want it in another format, all you have to do is, download the trial edition of 3ds max. install it. export the file you want in the format you want. uninstall 3ds max, and leave the installer somewhere handy in case you need it again later.

so all happy and smiling? i am, but thats sleep deprevation. i hope you dont have strange facial twitches too.

Ok....will keep this in mind but right now this pc will not handle 3ds max.....I tried a few months ago the trial and my pc just basically threw it up.

BUT I'm working on the hubby getting me a new one...or letting me build one!

hahahahahahahahahaha can she give me lessons?  No actually I think I've convinced him that since he wants to get our 7 year old a pc that it would be more cost effective (don't know if thats true or not) to get me a new pc and give him mine since it would still be great for his little games!

i left if free of text so people could customise it themselves. just get a photo of your husbands forklift, take the "kat" off, and apply it to a copy of the diffuse map provided.

Yeah well......am I up for Vista?  And whats the easiest way to get 130 gigs of stuff from one pc to another?

vista is nooooo. not yet. its still buggy as hell, has problems supporting older programs you may still want to use. go with xp. your old copy of xp from your old machine will still work on your new machine. if you dont have a disk copy of your old machine, any disk copy will do, and just put in your old serial number.

as re; moving 130 gigs of files? slowly. an outboard hard drive is a good option. just move things in chunks. not big chunks either. take your time and only take what you need.

make sure to find, and sign up with a forum that deals in the specifics of computer building and modding. you will get a lot of help from these types of places.

If you don't have a home network set up I find an large external hard drive is the easiest way to move large amounts of data from one PC to another. USB or FireWire.

remember to move files from one drive to another in small chunks. (about 4 gigs at a time, roughly) minimises risk of data coruption.
