The ability to turn off comments;so the really rude ones like I just received,can't be posted.

I second the idea of more control over comments.

I would also suggest limiting comments to registered members only, too many "guests" are using abusive language lately.

I think more control over comments would be a good idea as well, though admittedly I haven't had any problems so far.

That, and comment notification, were two things we asked for within the first two months of this place opening ... we're still waiting. And if I were all of you I wouldn't hold my breath.

I think that would be helpful in the case of people lately who've been mean for the sake of being mean.

Hi All ... I've never seen this implemented on an other site on the web.  Can any one here point me to a site that allows uploaders to turn off the ability for othes to comment?  I'm open to exploring the idea but don't want to jump in and implement this until I have more input and information.  Thanks for your help ....

Hi,when you upload to Renderosity you can cancel comments and/or ratings!

I'ts usually done for blogs. At Rendo, their freestuff doesn't have any comment field but you could look at the gallery section & options where one can disable comments.

If it cannot be done, then disable comments for guests like the ratings.

I wouldn`t remove my files because of one bad comment, especially if it is unfair or wrong, I would either just ignore it, or give them an equally bad reply.

We're going to look into this, have a 'big' meeting to decide whether or not to implent, and then determine how this engineering task fits into our current site enhancement plan (which is going to be revolutionary ... we hope.) ... Hello. I know I'm posting my comments a bit late, but I still wanted to add my 2 cents worth.  I think the ability to remove individual comments from a page is a good idea.  I haven't had any problems, but I never post artwork.  Art is quite subjective, and some people can get quite rude, and offensive when they realize that not everyone agrees with their point of view.  A page can also end up a battleground for a flame war between to visitors.  This change would not affect download count, view count, or rating.  It will just allow the person responsible for the page to eliminate foul language, flame wars, and comments that do not apply the web page.  It will also allow older post to be deleted, so the page does extend to 37 screens.  I've never wanted to delete a visitor's message, but there were times I wanted to delete my own post, and send it again.  The current software chops off messages in the middle of a sentence.

Accountability.

I dont comment much (only in reply to comments left), and as a 3d modeller, most of my commenters have been very pleasant, but if what you say is true, then I am glad they did that.

A little accountability goes a long ways in making people behave.
