Is there a file viewer that previews .max files so you can check them out without opening them in Max? Like "View3ds" and "objviewer" do with other formats. Endless googling has only turned up hundreds of idiot search engines without any useful leads.

As far as I know there isn't.   Also I don't believe there is a converter for them either.
