I did this elaborate writeup on revenue sharing in reply to the ongoing thread... but alas an error happened, and down it went.

So I will just reword it into a less detailed site recommendation.

90% of the suggestions you guys are seeing are all aimed around trying to make revenue sharing work... quality control, rating systems, using photo refrenced ids before downloading, allowing only registered user to download content, and the list goes on.

If you do all that you only end up hurting the end user. I want people to come here and get my content, and present me with feedback, so I improve... and to come here myself and pick up things to use in my animations and renders. Both of which I currently do with ease. I personally hate registering with a gazillion site to get freebies. Alot of those sites now host here... so... enough said there huh.

My suggestion is simple. Unless you are losing money, then I highly suggest you take a stand, and say you will never bring back revenue sharing. Then remove all things on the sight pertaining to it to prevent confussion.

If you look at it logically, implementing any suggestions aimed at bringing it back, do nothing but complicate, or break what is currently working fine. You don't have a ton of users because those things exist, you have a ton because they don't exist... because you offer a really good hosting solution for CG content.

You either have the data to prove that right or not. Have you lost people since revenue sharing stopped? Have people stopped uploading? Have you gotten less hits now? Based on what I see in the communities I troll around in, you are gaining popularity as a host. You make hosting and downloading content a breeze as is, and I for one would hate to see that change, even if I could make a few bucks in the process.

Personally I would like to see the browsing capabilities of this sight overhauled, a thumbnail gallery for people who want to upload single images, and the forum removed.

We have plenty of communities to yak in... so I suggest a "news" section on the front page, and a "Press here to make a suggestion" button, as apposed to this forum. It would be one less thing for you to worry about, which mean more time to refine your hosting capabilities.

Don't let the voices of the few, who are swayed by the almighty dollar, ruin it for the silent majority.
