About Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN)
Texas Humane Legislation Network is a non-profit organization that has been working to pass mainstream animal welfare legislation at the state level since 1976. For more than 30 years, THLN has led grassroots legislative initiatives in Texas and has a history of passing statewide laws for the humane treatment of animals. Due to THLN's efforts, animal cruelty is a state jail felony; dogfighting and cockfighting are banned; large scale commercial breeders are regulated to ensure "puppy mills" can be shut down; tens of thousands of dogs and cats have been sterilized through funding from the Animal Friendly License Plate program; and gas chamber euthanasia is now banned in Texas animal shelters. THLN encourages concerned citizens to register for its Action Alert emails to be kept informed on where and when to call in support of animal welfare legislation.
