MULLICA HILL, N.J., Oct. 20, 2020 — (PRNewswire) —

MULLICA HILL, N.J., Oct. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Internet Video Archive (IVA) is always developing ways to help our clients improve their search and discovery of new movies and TV shows using its database. For example, if someone is watching the movie Alien, you would want to be able to show them other movies from the film series as well as its prequels and crossover with Predator movies.

The Collection data is organized with parents such as Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) then all its children collections that includes all the movies for Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, etc. as well the TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter or the upcoming WandaVision. Adding these connections to titles that are beyond just genre, will help viewers find the titles that are most related to the title they are viewing. This gives MVPDs, VOD licensors and streaming services the ability to keep their viewers watching titles in their service, increasing the average revenue per user (ARPU).

With over 1000 Collections identified throughout movie and TV history, IVA clients can see which titles have a collection flag and query the collection to get more information about the collection such as a description, a type, and any sequence information. In the MCU Collection, you would know the collection type is "Shared Universe" and that MCU is based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You would also be able to see that in the Iron Man collection are the three Iron Man movies, their sequence numbers and that it also relates to the Iron Man parent that includes some of the animated movies and TV shows that feature the character Iron-Man.

By adding a collection type, IVA provides its clients more ways to segment the content. Types include:

  • Iconic Authors: Stephen King, Agatha Christie, H.P. Lovecraft, William Shakespeare, etc.
  • Iconic Character(s): Dracula, Indiana Jones, James Bond, The Thin Man, Sherlock Holmes, etc.
  • Iconic Studios: Hammer, Disney Reimagined, Pixar, Dreamworks, etc.
  • Iconic Titles: Planet of the Apes, Mission: Impossible, Back to the Future, The Godfather, etc.
  • Iconic Performer(s): The Marx Brothers, Astaire & Rogers, Laurel & Hardy, etc.
  • Shared Universes: DC Extended Universe, Middle Earth, Wizarding World, Askewniverse, etc.

Built using IVA's editorial staff, IVA will be continuing to update with new Collections and adding new titles to existing collections. Leveraging IVA's award-winning APIs, clients can request inclusion of the Collection data with a simple parameter added to the API call. In addition, IVA has added another data point called Characteristics. Characteristics connect movies and tv shows based on subject matter, narrative location, filming location, key topics, derivative works and micro genres. Bob Kolo, VP of Technology, says "The Collections and Characteristics data can help companies create their own content recommendations and enhanced search and discovery with over 100,000 new data points."

Clients of IVA already enjoy deep metadata about movies and TV shows, access to images, trailers, clips daily trending titles, and more. Schedule a demo to see how the new Collection and Characteristic data work by contacting Email Contact.
