Industry Expert and Career Coach Pamela Kleibrink Thompson Offers Insight on What Employers Look for in Résumés and Demo Reels
Portland, Ore. – April 9, 2007 – Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washington’s local SIGGRAPH chapter, today announced it is hosting an event on how to get a job in computer graphics. Scheduled to take place Tuesday, April 17, at 6 p.m. at PCC Cascade Campus Auditorium, Moriarty Arts & Humanities Building, located at 705 N. Killingsworth in Portland, Ore., “Getting a Job in Computer Graphics” offers insight from industry expert and career coach, Pamela Kleibrink Thompson, IDEAS TO GO, on what employers look for while reviewing résumés and demo reels.
The night will begin with a behind-the-scenes look at a demo reel critiquing process using a style similar to American Idol; giving the audience a rare inside peek as to how a demo reel is judged. Following, Thompson will offer expert advice on what it takes to get a job in computer graphics, as well as the secrets on how to create an irresistible résumé and demo reel.
About Pamela Kleibrink Thompson
A career coach since 1999, Thompson helps clients achieve their goals by developing strategic career plans and effective marketing materials. Thompson is an expert on career transitions, demo reels and portfolios, résumés, cover letters and interviewing techniques. She guides her career coaching clients through the complete job search process. Her monthly column "The Career Coach" is on Animation World Network http://mag.awn.com. She also writes a regular column for Working World Magazine. She has written and produced training films for AT&T and IBM, and her articles on careers and management have appeared in over 40 publications. Thompson has spoken on careers at numerous conferences, seminars and colleges. She teaches Career Realities at Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. Upcoming speaking engagements include the FMX in Stuttgart, Germany; and SIGGRAPH 07 in San Diego. She has lectured on Women in Animation as a noontime lecturer at Disney.

With over 40 executive panelists from top studios and over 800 attendees, the program was a tremendous success. Thompson co-produced the event in 1999.
Thompson has worked in television and feature films as well as commercials and video games. Her production credits include The Simpsons, Family Dog and Bebe's Kids. She teaches courses on animation, new media and the internet, and advises colleges and universities on preparing students for the working world. Thompson is an active and contributing member of the Visual Effects Society, L.A. SIGGRAPH, and Women in Animation.
