This is a camera and two props set mimicking an 85mm SLR portrait lens. Drop your character in and pose. Character must be centered and facing front. Move the focal distance (under Camera:Camera) plane parallel to the closest eye to the camera. This will make sure the face is in focus. If the character is sitting, lower the camera along the y axis. You might also have to move the bokeh spheres down to keep them behind the model. Now setup your lighting for your scene and hit render. By moving the "Instances Group Back Bokeh" (x and y axis best) you can change the look and number of the spheres visible behind your model. The same can be done with the front bokeh. You can turn off the front or back Bokeh by clicking on the eye icon next to them in the Scene list.

How it works:

The back prop is a set of spheres with Emission for the back Bokeh. The front prop is a set of spheres with Emission for front bokeh. You can customize the color under Cube for Back Bokeh:Sphere:Emission Color. You can change the color of the front bokeh under Plane for Front Bokeh:Sphere(2):Emission Color.

The sample has only one light source Using a single HDR called Sunset by Bitwelder from Seaside Gate and Patio. Dome Rotation 190. In the second sample I just added a tree behind genesis 8 to let the bokeh filter through the leaves.
